Chaturanga Dandasana

Chatur: four, Anga: limb, Danda: staff, Asana: pose

From a neutral or long cat, drop the elbows down to the mat and squeeze them in. Lift elbows a few inches until the back is level. Take the body forwards until elbows are over wrists, keep elbows bent. If necessary allow upper body to come up a little as in pic.1. Stage 2 is to bring shoulders down in line with hips. Stage 3 hover the knees, stage 4 come forwards and down. Hold for a few controlled breaths. Keep belly drawn in to protect the lumber, elbows tucked in, legs engaged, don’t collapse down, or allow elbows to go backwards. Remember the prep work, and always stay at the early stages to remain in control. Class links below.
